WELCOME ABOARD FAST!!
At Fayetteville Area System of Transit (FAST), we are very excited about the progress that has been made during the past year. There has been a tremendous amount of support provided to FAST by the City Council and the City Manager’s Office, all of which has been very rewarding and exciting.
Three new Gillig buses and eight new Light Transit Vehicles (LTVs) are now in your service. Four of the LTVs are in use with FASTTRAC, our paratransit services, and four units are in use with the fixed route system. These smaller buses are able to more efficiently and economically service areas where ridership is building. The next phase of our fleet replacement campaign will be five new Gillig 35 foot Low Floor diesel-electric hybrid buses, made possible by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). These buses will add to the positive efforts underway by many with the common goal of improving air quality for the Fayetteville metropolitan area. This website is another new tool designed for you, our customers, to aid you in planning your travels on the FAST system. We have designed this website to provide passengers with valuable information that makes getting around Fayetteville as simple and stress free as possible. Here, you will find guides that explain how to ride and how to read a timetable, as well as important phone numbers that will help you to get all the information you need. The recently adopted Transit Development Plan (TDP) recommended an extension of service hours for Route 6, 12 and 14, and to create a new east-west connector called Route 9. Route 9 will also operate with extended service hours. In addition, Routes 16 and 16 will have continuous service throughout the day. These changes are effective November 2, 2009, and the route information is included in this schedule. These are efforts to improve the system and to provide you better mobility throughout the city. Please enjoy a ride with FAST and share your feedback with us so that we may serve you better. Please send any suggestions by mail, call us at (910) 433-1743, or email us at customercare@1fay.com.
