Director's Message

I am pleased to announce that effective September 26, 2011 FAST will offer the following new or extended services:

Route 5 services extended Weekday hours from 6:55pm to 8:55pm and Saturday hours from 5:55pm to 8:55pm along Ramsey St. between the Transfer center downtown and Stacey Weaver.

Route 8 service extended Weekday and Saturday hours from 7:25 pm to 9:55 pm between the Transfer Center and the Cape Fear Valley Medical Center complex via Southern Avenue and Owen Drive.

Route 15 service extended Weekday hours from 7:25 pm to 10: 25 pm and Saturday hours from 6:25 pm to 10:55 pm between Cross Creek Mall and the Cape Fear Valley Medical complex via Skibo Road, Bunce Road and Raeford Road. This route also serves the Hollywood Heights neighborhood.

The FastTrac! Van service for disabled individuals was expanded to provide trips within ¾ miles of these bus routes during the evening service hours.

Planned improvements to extend Route 9 to the Cape Fear Valley North Pavilion at Ramsey and Andrews Road will be implemented at a future date, once final review of the change is completed.

The Route 9 service will continue to operate the current route and schedule from University Estates to Methodist University and the Walmart on Ramsey.

The changes have enhanced travel from downtown to North Fayetteville adding connections to Cape Fear Valley satellite locations and western portions of our service area. Funding for these improvements was provided by the Fayetteville City Council in the City’s FY 2011-2012 Budget. These changes are only a few improvements you will experience as we continue to enhance your travel options.

I want to thank the Fayetteville Advisory Committee on Transit (FACT) for their interest, support and assistance in developing and prioritizing much needed improvements to the FAST system.

In closing, I would certainly like to thank you, our valued customers, for your continued support. In our next update you will hear more about our technology projects intended to make your travel more convenient and easier. See you on the bus soon!
