Emergency Procedures

Fayetteville Fast - EmergencyIt is our policy to share confirmed information on serious incidents with the media as soon as practicable. We will work to provide you with updates as more information on a serious incident becomes available to us. When an emergency occurs that willgenerate extensive media coverage, the following procedures will be put in place:

  1. The early minutes of an emergency situation are dedicated to the emergency response. Once known, a designated spokesperson from The City of Fayetteville or Fayetteville Area System of Transit will endeavor to provide the following information:
    • Date and time of incident
    • Type of FAST Transit vehicle and number of persons on the vehicle (if confirmed)
    • General description of incident
    • Effect on FAST Transit operations

  2. At the site of a serious incident, media access and movement may be restricted by law enforcement or medical personnel to allow a safe and orderly response.

  3. If the incident warrants, the Management Services Department may distribute an advisory designating a media staging area. Media identification will be required for access to the area and/or to the incident site. A representative will be located at the staging area to assist media.

  4. In the event of a serious incident, media can reach the Management Services Department (910) 433 -1547 during regular business hours (8:00 AM to 5:00 PM). After hours on weekdays or on weekends, media may call Fayetteville Area System of Transit Director (910) 433-1744 and ask the Dispatcher to contact the Communications staffer on call.

  5. For emergencies or events taking place on our property, but not related to FAST Transit’s operations, the Director, Assistant Director or designee will endeavor to assist that agency with the dissemination of information as necessary.
