Educational Outreach Program

Did you know that the Transit Department offers tours to local schools? As we strive to enhance our current program, we are constantly brainstorming new ways to make this experience enjoyable and informative. All Transit tours begin with a brief presentation about Transit and safety, followed by a trip through the garage and “bus” wash. After that, trips may include any of the following options: Environmental Services’ presentation on recycling, Storm Water Education and Stormee, Police Department’s K-9 Demonstration or 911 for Kids, Fire Department or a presentation by our Chief Information Officer.

Transit tours are designed to increase the awareness of public transportation and ridership. Transit wants to eventually offer presentations to all grade levels cover all aspects of public transportation to include fixed routes, demand response and Americans with Disabilities Act, and how to ride.
